Herbs used to add Red highlights and tones to hair naturally
Herbs, roots and powders are used to make the perfect natural hair dye for red tones on just about any hair color.
Herbs for conditioning and accentuating Reddish tones on brunettes and red hair:

paprika, rosehips, cloves, Cherry Bark, Beet Juice, Henna, Madder Root, Alder Bark, Hibiscus, Saffron, Rosehips, Alkanet Root

Alkanet Root gives a ruby red hair color tone. Do not use if your scalp is irritated.

Hibiscus flowers that are crushed and made into a hair rinse gives a natural dark purplish dye. Great to use on dark brown or black hair.

Rooibos, Red Tea is a simple way to add red highlights to brown hair. Simply brew the tea and apply to clean, damp hair and let sit for an hour.
Cherry bark is perfect to use on black hair for red highlights and tones.

Bilberry Fruit gives a dark purplish, blue tone in hair color.
It's best to use herbs and roots to add red tones and highlights to hair that is already red, brown or black. If you're blonde, a quick hair rinse will result in a strawberry blonde effect to your hair. See our Red Hair dye Recipes to learn how to make a few simple rinses.
