Herbs for conditioning and accentuating GREY hair
If your trying to cover as much grey as possible with natural hair dye, use the following herbs. Remember, nothing is comparable to synthetic hair color. Rinses will blend and deepen the grey hair, not cover completely.
Herbs to darken grey hair:
Sage, rosemary , Oak bark, Potato, black tea, Walnut, Cloves, Brahmi
Walnut hulls should give the most grey coverage.
Black tea will slightly blend your grey if your have brown hair.
Herbs to blend grey in pale or golden blonde hair
Marigold flowers also known as Calendula , chamomile flowers, nettle, rhubarb root, safflower, mullein flowers, Catnip, rosehips, lemon
Calendula leaves the hair with a beautiful sheen and adds highlights.
Chamomile used in a hair rinse will help lighten the salt and pepper greys in your hair. It also conditions and softens the hair nicely.
Herbs to add warmth and strawberry highlights to grey hair
Barberry, ginger, Goldenrod Powder, Lichen, Rhubarb, Bloodroot
When using these herbs it's best to add them with sage or any of the herbs used for pale hair. You don't want to turn the grey hair pink, just add a subtle hint of warmth. Use at a 1/4 ration in your hair rinse recipe.
