How to Make a Hair Color Rinse
The most common method of using herbs to color your hair is by making a strong tea or rinse. Using rinses to dye your hair takes time and usually many applications. Don't expect big changes overnight. This method will not yield salon results. These are rinses and will give minimal amounts of hair color. These are made to be hair color enhancers and do not result in full hair color coverage as normal color would. Use a rinse for slight highlights and to help blend grey hair.
Using herb dye rinses are also great when you are trying to grow your artificial color out after having it dyed. Perfect when going all natural again!
How to make a Hair color rinse/tea using fresh herbs:
1.) Place about 1/2 -1 cup roots, herbs or flowers in a teabag or tea ball before adding to 4 to 3 cups water.
2.) Simmer or steep in water for 20 minutes. Allow to cool. Drain herbs.
3.) Apply as a final rinse, AFTER shampoo and conditioner.
For a stronger tea, place herbs in a glass jar. Pour boiling water over herbs, cover and let sit for anywhere between 24 hours to a week.
When using roots, flowers and herbs to dye your hair, please remember that many of these rinses will take several applications for noticeable results. The process should be repeated a few times a week for several weeks to notice a difference in your hair color.
This mesh ball makes brewing your hair color herbs, roots and teas simple and clean. Add herbs and immerse in large pot. Remove for easy clean-up
