How Henna Works
The henna plant contains pigment molecules called Lawsonia. Lawsonia produces dye. Depending on the henna plant, the dye may produce varying degrees of orange or red dye. Lawsonia pigment stains keratin, the outside layers of skin and hair. As the skin naturally exfoliates, the henna is shed away.Henna stain on the hair gradually fades. It can last for as little as one month and as long as six months. The color that the henna will produce varies depending on natural hair color.
Henna coats and seals the hair shaft, protecting the hair. Henna smoothes the cuticle thus creating super shiny hair.  Henna cannot lighten hair. However, Henna enhances and deepens existing natural or artificial color. The darker your natural color, the less drastic the change. It adds highlights to dark hair and is used to darken the color of lighter hair. Henna is also not recommened for hair that contains more then 10% grey.
How to use Henna
Most henna applications consist of henna powder and hot water. The mixture is applied to hair.

Timing will vary due to: Pourosity of hair... Depending how porous or resistant your hair is will determine processing time. The color you'd like to achieve and if you use heat to process the color. Most people time for 8 hours.

After processing, the hair is rinsed thouroghly till water runs clear. Always do a patch test on the skin before using henna!!!!
