How to make Natural Homemade Shampoo
Homemade shampoo is quite easy and inexpensive to make. With a few simple ingredients, you can customize your natural shampoo to meet all your hair care concerns. And without all the harsh chemicals!
How to make a basic Castile Shampoo
It's as simple as taking 8 once liquid Castile soap, adding carrier oils, essential oils and or herbs and that's it! Ready to use. You can also mix the Castile soap with water if the soap is too harsh. You can use all the above ingredients or just use Castile soap and EOs or Castile soap and herbs or use all 4 ingredients, it's up to you and your hair care needs. Check out Shampoo Recipes for great ideas.
If using Fresh Herbs in your shampoo recipe
When using herbs in your shampoo you'll want to make an herbal infusion first. Here's how:
Boil 1 cup of distilled water. Add 3 tablespoons of the mixed herbs into the boiling water. Pull the boiling water and herbs off the stove. Let the herb mixture sit for 30 – 40 minutes, then strain the herbal mixture into a bowl. The longer you allow the mixture to boil, the stronger the "tea" will be.

When this mixture cools, simple add it to the Castile soap and you're done!
If using Essential Oils in your shampoo recipe
If using Carrier Oils in your shampoo recipe
If you chose to add a carrier oil to your shampoo recipe, simple add the below amount to the liquid Castile soap. Shake before each use. Think of the carrier oil as the conditioning part of your shampoo recipe.
Dry Hair Super moisturizing: 2 tablespoons carrier oil to 8 once Castile soap
